This notice describes how personal data is handled on scottspray.com. The short version: we don't ask you for anything, we don't track you, and the small amount of data that does pass through our hands is used only to run the site and answer messages.
No accounts, no trackers
There is nothing to sign up for. The site does not load advertising scripts, social sharing widgets, visitor analytics or tracking pixels, and we don't build profiles of readers.
Server logs
Like any website, scottspray.com is delivered by a hosting provider. To send pages to your browser and keep the service secure, that provider automatically processes connection data such as IP address, requested address, browser details and timestamps. This processing is necessary to deliver the site; the logs are retained by the provider for a short period and are not combined with other information to identify you.
Your banner choice
When you answer the cookie banner, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so you aren't asked again on every page. It holds only that yes-or-no answer. Our page on how we use cookies explains this in more detail and tells you how to clear it.
When you email us
Writing to hello@scottspray.com means we receive your address and the content of your message. We use it to reply and keep the correspondence for as long as it's useful for that conversation. Your address is never sold, rented or added to a mailing list unless you specifically ask to be added.
Your rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it erased or restrict how it is used. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, email us and describe what you'd like us to do; we'll respond within the time limits the law allows.
One embedded map
A single article, our guide to a window cleaning brief for a Vienna building, includes an embedded Google Maps view. When that map loads, your browser connects to Google, which receives technical data such as your IP address and may use cookies under its own privacy policy. We receive nothing from that map. No other page on the site contains Google services.
Outside websites
Our articles link to other sites. Once you leave scottspray.com, the privacy practices of the site you visit apply instead of ours, so check their notices before handing over any details.

If the way we handle data changes, this page will be revised and the date below updated.
